Los e-sports como Objeto de Estudio de las Ciencias del Deporte

Introducción: el presente trabajo aborda los e-sports como un objeto emergente de estudio dentro del campo de las Ciencias del Deporte. En un contexto signado por la digitalización de las prácticas corporales, los e-sports se configuran como un fenómeno híbrido que interpela las nociones tradicionales de cuerpo, rendimiento y competencia. Metodología: a partir de una revisión narrativa, se analizan los principales debates en torno a su legitimidad como disciplina deportiva, sus vínculos con la alfabetización mediática y su potencial para repensar la relación entre lo físico y lo digital en el deporte. Resultados: el análisis permite reconocer que los e-sports mantienen estructuras de competencia, entrenamiento y organización comparables a las del deporte tradicional, aunque mediados por entornos virtuales que demandan nuevas habilidades cognitivas, estratégicas y sociales. Además, su creciente profesionalización y su impacto cultural invitan a reconsiderar el papel de las Ciencias del Deporte frente a las transformaciones tecnológicas contemporáneas. Conclusiones: los e-sports constituyen un objeto de estudio pertinente en tanto revelan las tensiones y continuidades entre la práctica corporal y la cultura digital. Su inclusión en el debate académico amplía las fronteras del campo, incorporando nuevas formas de ser, hacer y pensar lo deportivo en el siglo XXI.
